Thorn: Leading A Website Overhaul With Heart

Thorn is a nonprofit with a big vision—to end childhood sexual violence. After an internal brand refresh, Thorn was clear on how to tell their story via visuals and short-form content. But they weren’t sure how to turn that into long-form storytelling on a soon-to-be-launched website.

From site architecture and UX to copy that drives action among varied audiences, they needed support from a writer who could quickly understand their emotionally difficult and nuanced issue space.

  • -Tailored copy to multiple audiences and CTAs

  • -Collaborated with the in-house team to ensure site continuity

  • -Revised the data-heavy Issue page to center children and their stories, not just numbers

How I helped:

  • -Wrote long-form copy for the homepage and other key site pages

  • -Led market, keyword, and audience research

  • -Developed sitemap, user journey, and content strategy for 30+ pages

The website on a phone mock-up reads: "We're building a safer world for kids."
A snapshot of the Issue page is displayed on a tablet. The copy talks about AI and deepfakes.
Photos of smiling children are surrounded by navy and red digital icons.
